A wide open sky, like a softly spoken lie hangs over me
( wasted sunshine )
collapsed wreckage on the beach as far as the eye can see
Is this the end of our path together?
Is this the end of you and me?
I can see where we walked together, our footprints in the sand
( Wasted time, )
We walked this road with one another, hand in hand
What could I have done differently?
I thought we had more time
The statues have the faces of men, destroyed by indifference
(Wasted life, )
Totems of crumbled kingdoms, are all that's left
Is this end of our path together?
Is the end of you and me?
What could I have done differently?
I wish we had more time
One time, when I was a child, I saw the body of what used to be a whale; it had washed up on the beach, and it appeared to have been sawn in half. Its yellowy fat, organs and intestines lay exposed, protruding as the waves washed over the carcass. It wasn’t a dream.
